Can Man Survive from Extinction?

Humans can survive in the age of ice (ice age) and pandemic diseases – to be able to become the dominant species on Earth.

Humans are also able to adapt to almost anywhere on Earth, and utilize natural forces, split the atom and the connecting DNA to create new species. However, scientists warn, the technology could mean disaster for the human – the human drive to its own extinction.

Man must learn to wisely use technology, such as to prevent natural disasters such as asteroid collisions. It is also wise to avoid self-extinction by careful use of biotechnology and nanotechnology.

“When a civilization has a remarkable power to control nature, manipulate, and stronger in terms of equipment and capabilities, the risks increase,” says social anthropologist and director of Global Warming Policy Foundation in London, England, as published pages LiveScience.

Technology makes people become superior in the long term, but history proves this could be a disaster. For example, a nuclear war in the era of cold war between the United States and the Soviet Union. Or when Hiroshima and Nagasaki atomic bomb devastated a result. However, nuclear is not the only double-edged technologies.

“The biggest challenge we have is that the technology developed with exponential speed. That is, the ability to influence the world and society as a whole move, from the government entity to a group of people, even individuals,” said Peter Diamandis, chairman and CEO of X Prize Foundation.

Technology allows almost anyone to change the world in the near future, for better or worse.

For example, digital maps and DNA sequences are less expensive laboratory equipment enables individuals to design new synthetic organisms that could revolutionize the world of medicine or a new era of clean energy.

Conversely, it can give individuals room to spread a deadly new disease  re-engineering version of 1918 influenza virus that killed 50 million people.

According to Diamandis, the biggest challenge came from biotechnology. Following, the development of nanotechnology, and artificial intelligence (artificial intelligence or AI) – man-made creature can rival the intelligence of its creator.

If in the future, AI – in the form of a robot for example – becomes more intelligent and uncontrollable, man may face the same situation with the onslaught of dangerous aliens.

About threats from outside the planet Earth, astrophysicist Stephen Hawking has even issued a warning for people not in contact with the aliens – even though the existence of aliens has not been ascertained.

However, the real threat of curved space could come in the form of a more ‘reasonable’ – a giant asteroid could hit Earth at any time. Humans could have fared the same with dinosaurs, extinct.

One of the greatest challenges facing humanity today also is climate change. The scientists even predict with uncontrolled climate change, humans will be extinct within 100 years.

Frank Fenner, microbiologists Australian National University (ANU) – which helped eliminate smallpox – told The Australian that he believes overpopulation, environmental destruction and especially climate change will ‘lock’ the fate of mankind.

The scientists encourage people to act to reduce the impacts of climate change.

According to geochemist and climate scientist from Columbia University Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, New York, said the technological solutions to climate change already exist. But Broecker skeptical of government or industry will try to slow the rise in carbon dioxide (CO2) into the atmosphere.

“The increase in CO2 will not kill many people.” But that will change the ecology of this planet, melting icebergs, sea pickle, change water availability and the cultivation of food. “
